We put pen to paper to write letters, jot down notes, or leave a short message for a loved one: writing instruments such as ballpoint pens, rollerball gel pen, fountain pens and pencils are indispensable in this respect and one couldn’t imagine everyday life without them. And everyone has their very own favourite pen.

The Bullet Journal Drehgriffel pen has a distinctive tip and the twist head are made of brass and give this writing instrument its special character. The black barrel is made of lacquered aluminum that has been sandblasted, which provides a slightly grainy, matt surface with a pleasant grip. The logo on the mid-section stands out discreetly against the glossy black lacquer background. The lightning bolt engraved on the twist head is the distinctive mark of the international Bullet Journal community.

LEUCHTTURM1917 is reviving the Drehgriffel from the 1920s. The name “Drehgriffel”  is a German compound noun that directly translates as twist stylus. Its characteristic design makes this writing instrument truly distinctive: a hexagonal body with a pointed tip, which, like the twist button, is in a contrasting colour. The Drehgriffel is made from  precision-milled aluminium and brass, then painted and sealed. It uses a spring-loaded  twist mechanism.

Smooth writing with fine contours. Inspired by the fine Asian art of writing with its filigree typeface made up of detailed characters, the Drehgriffel Nr. 1 pen now comes with a Japanese 0.5mm black gel pen refill.

For easy and flowing handwriting

Gel ink has a higher viscosity than standard ballpoint pen ink. An advantage that ensures easy and flowing handwriting. Giving a line width of only 0.5mm, the Japanese gel pen refill creates particularly fine writing with a clear outline. Even with a fine stroke, the ink flows very evenly via the pen tip onto the paper.

This is due to a ceramic ball bearing which dictates the perfect flow of ink in the tip. The interaction between the ceramic’s smooth surface and the precise positioning of the ball bearing ensures a constant flow of ink despite the fact that very little ink is released.
